Ataresse Name: Taylarin (Tay)
Epesse name: Tirisindë (Vigilkeeper)
Climesse Name: Celebeleneth (silverstars)
Epesse 2: Furinissë (hidden one)

Conceived in S.A. 543 in Mithlond.

Appearance: Short for an elf, a mere 5'9". She has storm-grey eyes and caramel brown hair, though you will never see it as she wears a hood and gloves at all times. She is always clad in grey.

Personality: She is gentle in every aspect, from her manner to her voice (which sounds like Rita from Dexter). She smiles easily and warmly and often has a playful manner. She finds people fascinating, and is constantly trying to understand why they do the things they do. She has long been a friend to the Dunedain, seeing them often through her life. Having fought side by side with them on many occasions formally, she has spent much of her life aiding them informally.  She is one to seek peace, not war. She is typically one to remain out of sight and out of mind, preferring to be unnoticed as much as possible.

The Valar she relates to most is Este, and strives to heal bodies and minds, though she does not consider herself a 'Healer'.

((Her backstory to be uncovered through RP))

re: Aduialel of House Othnir

1

(Alright so I am taking my first stab at this. I did as much research into the family names I picked as I could find (Which was not a lot. So if you see something that seems out of place let me know! Also this took much longer than I though to post so I am sorry if parts get away from me its nearly 3am as I finish this!)

Aduialel Daughter of Tirnel of House Othnir

Mothers Name: Riwen of House Brindalin

Aduialel Aduial(Evendim)A place of evening, twilight) iell(daughter) or el (Gazer)

Race: Female, Gondorian

Class: Hunter

Vocation: Woodsmane (Primary Wood Crafting)

Place of Origin: Gondor, Lebennin the county of Gilrain

Gilrain (Star-wanderer) is a county and river in Southern Gondorn. The river Gilrain flows from the White Mountains before joining with the river Serni to create the estuary of Linhir (fair Stream). The river came swiftly down from the mountains, but once past the outlier separating it from the River Celos to the east, the Gilrain's course wandered in a wild, shallow depression and then formed a small mere. The Gilrain then cut though a ridge, forming a series of waterfalls. The river flowed swiftly once more until it joined the River Serni, which then emptied into the Bay of Belfalas. The name of the river is derived from the (Ran) meaning to wander, stray or go uncertain course, in reference to the meandering portion of the Gilrain. Later it was connected in Gondorian folklore with the demise of the elf-maiden Nimrodel. The town of Linhir is located near the juncture of the Gilrain and the Serni.

Father Name: Tirnel

Star-gazer

Mothers Name

Riwen

Crown/Wreath/Garland (rî) Maiden and Virgin (gwend)

Chosen Name:She goes by several aliases or nicknames depending upon where she is in Middle Earth

Among the Rangers she was known as Morwin (Gloom)(Maur)Maiden(Gwend) for a time.

Personality: Introspective, Watchful, Calm, Adaptable, Compassionate, Disciplined, & Self-Sufficient

Often marked by her silences Aduialel is of a general even temperament she is slow to anger, but quick in wits. She never speaks with out it being of importance or from deep thought.

Strengths: She is dedicated to her causes, and not a woman of half measures.

Weaknesses: Has at times a deep melancholy that takes her from time to time coloring her perspective with the worst of the world. She is also slow to forgive, and when her temper does show (Which is Rare) is explosive in it.

Description: Aduialel stands a a bit taller than most woman of her family. She is of an Athletic build from years of being out in the wild places of Middle Earth while hauling gear and hunting. She has green-grey eyes and the more typical dark hair of Gondor. Her skin is fair though regardless of how much time she spends in the sun. She has extensive scarring on her neck which she hides with scarves, and neck covers and she -never- lets them show unless otherwise stated. She dresses simply when out in the wilds clothes that are well worn and patched here and there with repairs done with her own hand.

Biography/Background: Aduialel had a charmed childhood among one of the older Houses of Gondor, though most of the wealth of her Fathers house was lost many years past with that fall of Ithilen. His family managed to create a comfortable if not luxurious house in the lands of Lebinnin. Where they owned property with a small vineyard as income. Her older brother Rithor (nearly 10 years her Senor) left the house when she was five to travel to Minas Tirith where he wished and would join one of the companies stationed there guarding the city. Aduialel was educated and her mother insisted that she learn all the "womanly" arts (Singing, Dancing, Needle Point, an instrument (Harp and Lute), Painting as well as learning how to run a house hold). On top of that she also was taught elvish (Sindarin) as it was seen as fashionable in the ennobled houses. Her father taught her archery and horseback ridding.

All in all her childhood was structured but was charmed with good food, fine clothes and the love and admiration of her Mother and Father. All of this ended very suddenly when she was 12. Her family was travelling by road to visit there son where they where ambushed at night while making camp by a band of marauding Orcs. The attack was brutal and swift and something she rarely if ever speaks of. All that is truely known is that the Orc left no one alive, and was in the process of stringing up the bodies of the half living up in the trees when the Rangers of Ithilen came upon them. The battle was swift and bloody and the Rangers believing they had been too late, where cutting down bodies when they realized that Aduialel was not dead yet. She was taken with them as there was no settlements near by and slowly mended under there care. For the first year or more she spoke no words as the damage to her throat and neck where too much so they gave her the name Morwin. From that point on she cast off her old life and trained with the rangers. Some questioned letting her do so, but she proved herself over time. (Some even thought she might be of the blood due to her survival as well as other traits, but as she could yet not speak it was never confirmed.) After some time training she along with a small group of rangers made there way to the rangers of the North where Morwin (As she was still called) took up her bow formally with the Rangers.

From that point on she has roamed the wilds seeking out Orc and Goblin with cold vengeance in her heart as she seeks to keep the innocent safe from such terrors as she has seen.

Name: Langathor Leglani'sdaughter

age: 17

Personality: She can be hospitable though she is often rude when it comes to the customs of other races.  Often Langathor will be seen smirking at such customs but keeping most comments to herself.  Until it comes to the desicration of the land or animals in it without purpose then she cares not what comes from her maw.

Appearance:
Hair- brown
eyes- brown
height- 5'9"
weight: 137lbs
build: slim-medium (pretty close to borderline)
face marking: two bars, representing a river.

Clothing:
She wears the furs of animals a very warm set of clothing, her belt is made of bearskin leather.  She has a bearskin pouch tied to her belt which she keeps bartering items in (Such as hack braclets, or coins if she finds any), her cloak is made of wolf and rabbit fur.  She also often adorns a headband to keep her hair from her face.

A small background:

Langathor grew up in the Vales of Anduin where she remembers playing as a child.  Though she is far from home she still has not been away for very long and misses it dearly.  She bought a home in Bree-land so she has a place to sleep outside of the town while she is working on breaking the few tarkips that wish to cause trouble in the area.  She isn't a very outgoing person if she does not know you she does not trust you, but to those who earn her trust she is fully loyal.

re: Galthaniel

1

Born in S.A. 3, in the recently established Kingdom of Lindon, Galthaniel & her family moved to Ost-in-Edhil in S.A. 751. Her father was a master jewel-smith, her mother working in the Houses of Healing. She spent much time with both her parents, learning how to make healing poultices & do simple elven healing, & learning to work in the forges, though she found she had more of a talent with forging weapons, than the more delicate jewelry. She often wandered to linger with the minstrels or in the libraries, when not with her parents. Her brother, Sírchanar, was a woodworker of some skill, crafting bows & instruments.

When Sauron attacked Eregion & destroyed it, she & her family fled, seeking refuge with Elrond in the newly established elven stronghold of Imladris, her beloved brother nearly passing away by the time they had reached Imladris, due to a combination of wounds received during their flight from Eregion, & nearly fading with grief, having lost his betrothed in the initial attacks. Thankfully, Lord Elrond was able to help heal his physical wounds & his family managed to draw him back from the worst of the edge of grief, preventing his fading, though he remained in need of extended care that Galthaniel took it upon herself to provide. He had lost his right arm barely a few finger-widths below the joint of his shoulder, & was forced to relearn many things to account for the lost limb, & his more delicate works were beyond him for a time, during which period, Galthaniel worked with him, learning his craft & lending the aid of her two good hands in the more delicate or intricate portions of his work, whenever she had the time.

Grieving the losses suffered, Galthaniel spent much time amongst the books & scrolls & tomes that formed the library of Elrond, where she learned the power of runes & began to study & practice with them, first in the healing arts, & then in those of battle, both of which were of use to her, during the First Siege of Imladris.

After the siege ended, she continued her woodworking, alongside her brother, focusing- as he did, on bows & assorted instruments, though she did make the occasional bit of furniture. Although she now focused on woodworking, she never really lost interest in her studies & usage of runes, & will occasionally venture out beyond the safety of Imladris to keep her skills sharp, while also doing what she can to cleanse the lands of fell creatures.

re: Evaline

0

Early Life - Evaline was born to Tom and Ellie Spinner - two merchants who sold everything from furs and wood to silks, trinkets, and anything else worth selling that they could find. When Evaline was five years old, she was with her parents on a trip through the Trollshaws as they wished to attempt trade with lands beyond. However, they were attacked by bandits, and Evaline's parents were killed - she was left for dead.

A New Start - A short time after her parents were killed, an Elven couple came across Evaline, who was lost and alone. Taking pity on the girl, and having no child of their own, the couple took her in to raise her as their own. She was raised with Elven values, traditions, and other forms of living. As a result, she has come to know of the land and life better than she probably would have otherwise. As she grew up, she had an increasing fondness for exploration and needed to satiate her curiosity.

-TBC-

Note: A few possiblities are possible with Evaline's adoptive parents. Perhaps they are killed in some way. This could give a darker explanation as to why Evaline is a Stealthy Killer than as, say, if her parents were alive. On the opposite spectrum, if they are alive, I am open to the possiblity that other players' characters take on the roles of Evaline's parents, if they are willing. This could open much roleplay possiblity and help Evaline develop as a character on a brighter note. A possible outcome as to how she is stealthy and profiecient in stealthy killing could be that she is a Scout for what group of Elves her parents are part of, be it the Kin's group of elves, or an associated group.

If her parents are killed, Evaline will have a darker personality, more geared towards vengeance towards her family's killers and associated emotions, which could potentially put some strain on her relations with other characters (but this can be fixed through events later on.) If her parents are alive, the familial aspect of relations and such is still a possiblity, and a brighter outlook on Evaline's personality and motivation is possible.

orn in Edhellond near the end of the second age, Celebloth was always curious as to how things work. She resembled her grandfather, both in semblance and in personality. Celebloth could often be found in her study, taking things apart; in the forges, trying to learn as much as possible from the few smiths of her land; or near the shipyards, marveling at the amazing ships that were crafted there.
In the beggining of the Third Age, as the lands of the elf-haven grew more and more deserted, she and her family moved to Ithilien. However, the Dark Lord's forces soon coerced them to flee to Lothlórien, where she parted ways with her parents and sister to go to Rivendell: Celebloth longed to see more of Middle-Earth and learn from the Free Folks. Since then she has focused on improving her crafting skills and her knowledge of powerful words of wisdom, in the hopes of someday overcoming her fears and being of some help in the fight against the growing darkness.

Born in Edhellond, in T.A. 131, Cethiriel grew up beside the sea, & could often be found staring out into the waters, almost as though entranced. She loved the water nearly as much as she loved going hunting & learning to track creatures, or climb trees.

In T.A. 1545, her family moved to be with relatives in Lorien. While there, she spent some time with the border guard. Recently, she has begun to go beyond the borders of fair Lorien & hunt the foul creatures that inhabit the world, desiring to do what she can, while she yet remains in Middle-Earth.

DAERDINOTAWAR MAETHORODUATH (Son of Dawagar)

Race/Gender: Elf, Male

Class: Champion

Father Name: Daer - (S.) adj. 'Great', Din - (S.) n. 'Silence', O - (S.) prep. 'Of', Tawar - (S.) n. 'Wood' (as a material); 'Great Wood' or 'Forest' (i.e. "Mirkwood.. By extension, 'Tawarwaith' are Silvan Forest Elves)
Chosen Name: Maethor - (N.) n. 'Warrior', O - (S.) prep. 'Of', Duath - (S.,N.) n. ' Darkness, Shadow, Nightshade"

Daerdinotawar is a Silvan elf whose formative years and earliest memories are of a time when the very atmosphere of Taur-e-Ndaedelos (Greenwood the Great) shifted and became tinged with an unmistakable sickness. Thenceforth others began calling the forest Taur-nu-Fuin ("Forest of Darkness" – taur, - "forest" ; nu; "under"; fuin, "night, darkness") and Taur-e-Ndaedelos (“the Forest of the Great Fear”) in the Sindarin tongue, or Mirkwood by men.

Not uncommon, as Daerdinotawar became of age he developed a deep loathing for spiders which even in his time began to suffocate the forest. The only respite from cutting back spiders and orcs had been in the refuge of the Elvenking’s Halls, which were similar to the example set forth by King Thingol who had constructed the underground fortress of Menegroth in Doriath. Daerdinotawar's life has been one of martial training, thanks in no small part to the sickness fallen over his homeland and as evidenced by these things.

Daerdinotawar was one of over 1,000 elven spear and bowmen in the Battle of Five Armies (TA 2941) under his lord and commander Thranduil, the Elvenking. Sometime after this engagement, it became Daerdinotawar’s duty to regularly pick off the goblins that had taken claim of the steep slopes along the Emyn Duir (Dark Mountains). He was soon relieved of this frustration, however, and in TA3003 was officially sent westward as messenger across Hithaeglir (the MistyMountains) to Imladris.

Age: 1983 years (TA1035TA to TA3018 when the Fellowship sets off from Imladris)

Personality: Daerdinotawar is brash and oftentimes resolute and headstrong. He has little patience for the formalities and nuances of polite conversation and is apt to assert himself into situations where he feels there is a moral imperative or obligation to do so. Matters involving those who would position themselves upright to the detriment of others deemed lesser will be surely met with sharp words if not a cutting blade. Some have said that the many long and silent hours spent alone traversing the Mirkwood on regular scouting missions have darkened Daerdinotawar’s disposition. None would argue, however, that he a loyal and valiant champion and defender of noble deeds; a protector of those whose voices would otherwise be silenced. He delights in bloodshed and in the ways of war and chases an indescribable stillness known only in the midst of battle.

Additional Information (not included as part of the in-game write-up):

Primary Roles: Messenger, Martial, Scout, Escort

Strengths: Valiant Defender of the Less Fortunate and a Voice for those Who have not yet found their own, Discernment, Daring and Courageous, Natural Inclination toward Martial Dealings

Weaknesses: Reckless and Impatient at times, Cutting

Incidentals: Daerdinotawar collects various body parts of his enemies and keeps them each as a talisman strung about his waist tucked inside leather satchels. Eyes and index fingers are typical.

(5) Celebrimbor died from his torment also, after his capture in the sack of Eregion. (7)

FA 0001 - The departure of the Ñoldor out of the Undying Lands marked the beginning of the First Age, and the years of the Sun. Fëanor's (son of Finwë by Míriel and greatest of their craftsmen, second and briefest-reigning High King) company was soon attacked by Morgoth. re: In-Game Biography:

0

In-Game Biography:

Personality: Daerdinotawar is brash, resolute, and headstrong. He has little patience for the formalities and nuances of polite conversation and is apt to assert himself into situations where he feels there is a moral imperative to do so. Matters involving those who would position themselves upright to the detriment of others deemed lesser will be surely met with sharp words if not a cutting blade. Some have said that the many long and silent hours spent alone traversing the Mirkwood on regular scouting missions have darkened Daerdinotawars disposition. None would argue, however, that he a loyal and valiant champion and defender of noble deeds; a protector of those whose voices would otherwise be silenced. He delights in bloodshed and in the ways of war and chases an indescribable stillness known only in the midst of battle.

Primary Roles: Messenger, Martial, Scout, Escort (Presently he serves to ensure the safe departure of his kind on their way westward toward the sea and the Undying Lands)

Father Name: Daer - (S.) adj. 'Great', Din - (S.) n. 'Silence', O - (S.) prep. 'Of', Tawar - (S.) n. 'Wood' (as a material); 'Great Wood' or 'Forest' (i.e. "Mirkwood.. By extension, 'Tawarwaith' are Silvan Forest Elves)

Chosen Name: Maethor - (N.) n. 'Warrior', O - (S.) prep. 'Of', Duath - (S.,N.) n. ' Darkness, Shadow, Nightshade"

re: Daerdin [Diorn]

I am but a Silvan elf, trusting not to incantations, having little impulse toward blinding lights, and looking instead to the myriad reaches of branch ever upward toward the firmament and the splendor of Elbereth Gilthoniel’s favor.

I have stated in the past and do now reaffirm my position, that I have no will to leave Middle-earth, and remain steadfast in loyalty for my Lord and the Woodland Realm.

Be that as it may, by my sojourn in the hidden valley that is Imladris, I have received and met the opportunity there afforded me; given a daily commune with an unrivaled night’s sky, where in my smallness there under, my nakedness, was my resolve strengthened.

But at last again I must push forth. Though able to, admittedly, find at least some small measure of amusement in the irony of the task now set before me, it is with a tone of seriousness and even thanksgiving which I pen these words.

The Sea does not call me, but I will assist, nonetheless, in aiding those want for departure into its midst.

The port of Celondim, where the white ships depart for the West, now excites in ferried traffic; I will do my part to ensure no obstructions are met in the process of this migration.

~ Daerdin

re: Dirter Noakes [Diorn]

UNDER DEVELOPMENT

DIRTER NOAKES OF THE HARFOOTS

Race/Gender: Hobbit, Male

Class: Burglar

Two things about "Potter" Dirter Noakes of the Harfoots. He is true to his name and esteemed for
an appreciation of good earth. Being a Harfoot, means digging deeper than most. In Dirter's case
this means knowledge, and getting to the center of things. Known for his ability to fashion clay
into functional wares.. "Clay is not Dirt though mind you".. Dirter has an enthusiasm for
tempering things and testing their worth, be they bowls, cups, mugs.. people. Harfoots have
always had closer relations with Dwarves than have other Hobbits, but in Dirter's case others
sometimes think him a little too close to them and even a little peculiar for it.

Name:

Noakes: A working class surname of Shire hobbits. The name is derived from a place of
dwelling and means 'at the oak' or 'dweller by the oak tree'. 1 2 3 4

Harfoot: Not strictly a family, but rather one of the three 'breeds' or original tribes of hobbits.
The name is derived from 'hair-foot'. Most common of the three original ancient hobbit-strains,
the Harfoots were the first to enter Eriador, a century before the Fallohides or Stoors.

Apperarance-wise, the Harfoots were the smallest and shortest kindred of the hobbits, growing in
rare cases to about 3’5”. They had darker, more brownish skin than the other tribes and never
grew beards. They also had the most graceful and nimble hands and feet among the holedwellers
(Holbytla ; pl. Holbytlan).

The Harfoots were the most numerous of the Holbytlan of the Northern Anduin Vales. With the
growing threat from the Goblins of Goblin-Gate they crossed the misty Mountains and entered
Eriador a century before the Fallohides, and some lived in Rhudaur for a short period before they
migrated to The Shire. 5 6 7

re: Dialyta Kshariya

0

The earliest memory that Dialyta holds is one of a campfire, and being wrapped in one of her father’s furs. Her father giving her a warm broken grin, settling in against a log to tell her of her mother. Even at such an early age, the girl can tell by the way he speaks of her mother that he loved her greatly.

“Moon-kissed strands of mithril, cascading over an elegant face. Beautiful features, dazzling green eyes…” Though the softness in his voice spoke to how much he missed her, Dia’s father always managed to perk back up as he looked over at his daughter.

“You take after her. Green eyes, hair of silver.” He always remarked, before getting up to kiss her forehead and tuck her into the small bedroll where his daughter slept through the night.

At the time, she did not know the why of things; instead only knowing that her mother was gone. It would come to light later, when she was of an age to ask him such things. Her birth had been traumatic, though her mother had in fact survived. Shortly after, Dialyta had been bundled up and thrust upon her father with the edict to leave.

Though he was not a man for settling down, Dialyta’s father took great care to provide for his daughter. She ate better than he most nights, and grew big and strong. It was clear early on that while she held the looks of her mother about the face, she was his daughter. He spent many years teaching her the way of the nomad, the warrior, the craftsman, the survivalist and the naturalist. In some areas she excelled without his tutelage, such as the growing of fruits, teas and flowers. When she was strong enough, he gave her weapons and instructed her in their use as well as the honor of a proper warrior.

Battle, war and fighting… and what it means to take life. Hard work and the value of one’s word. Hunting and tracking all manners of life. Boldness and when to bow your head and pass unnoticed. The knowledge of languages gained from a life of travel. Honor. These are the treasures he gave his daughter.

By the time she had seen twenty summers, Dialyta stood taller than her father though he was broader and thicker. She was muscled in a way many women were not, and had her chest not grown might have passed for a fit young warrior in his prime. With the right furs, anyway.

It was around this time that Dialyta’s father left her. One morning she awoke and found him gone. His things packed quietly in the night, with only a gift left behind to mark his leaving. A piece of jewelry, of an elegant make that she did not recognize. Though sad, Dialyta knew that her father had kept to “civilized lands” for far longer than he had been comfortable with. On account of her, she’d often thought.

She set out to make her own way, spending another seventeen years chasing the wanderer’s whim. To see and experience. Often, Dialyta worked the winters near cities as a laborer or paid her way through the cold seasons by selling dyes or the flowers themselves. She became known as a fair hand with farm work, and could often find a berth in a barn somewhere in trade for labor.

Despite her love of this freedom, Dialyta could not help but wonder about her mother. She began looking for the maker of the trinket. Dwarven smiths dismissed the work as elven, which pointed her in the right direction. She occasionally travels to elven cities, hoping to find her remaining family.

Many things call upon Dialyta’s spirit, the strongest of which is the wanderlust that afflicts her father. She has occasionally sought her father’s whereabouts, but nought came of it. Though she has strong desires to explore and see, she also finds herself needing interaction with friends and comrades and thus stays closer to civilization than her father would.

Physical OOC Information.

Dialyta is thirty-seven years old. Her features are fine and seem at odds with her professed age. She has platinum blonde hair with soft curls that seems more silver than gold, and bright green eyes.

Dialyta is a large woman, standing head and shoulders above all but the largest of human men. She is heavily muscled from a life of traveling and hard work. When given a choice, Dia will keep her left arm fully covered most of the time. Visible hands and fingers are often dyed splotchy colors or covered in dirt.

She prefers pale green/gold or purple/silver combinations of colors. The gear she carries is typically well-worn but well taken care of. Weapons she may carry often tend to have dual purposes, for utility as well as combat. When armed, a sheathed long dagger with a thick blade hangs from her right hip as well as a heavy halberd strapped across her back. She may or may not be carrying javelins, though these are seen when she intends to go hunting.

Dialyta has a green thumb, specifically in the field of flowers, plants that can be made into tea, and most fruits. She can grow vegetables and most farm-crops, but does not care for growing pipeweed of any kind.

She has taught herself to make dyes of a high quality and generally supports herself through selling these in bustling markets. During a bad season, she will perform manual labor or sign up for guard duty. Something along those lines.

She enjoys music greatly and often plays a battered old flute when she’s alone.

re: Biographical Outline of Haenir, At The Request of Aemthalion

0

Haenir, who's birthname is Ivoron, was born to Uilosson of Ithilien (in fact, he was one of the Rangers of that place) and Heledhes of Lossarnach in the South-Lands of the Stewardship of Gondor. His birthname was never revealed to him; not for any reason as grandiose as the Secrecy of Aragorn II Elassar, but important for his raising nonetheless. 'Haenir' was the name given to him by Rosson of Esteldin and his wife Iestel of Trestlebridge, who took him in in his infancy and raised him as one of their own kin (in fact, it was Uilosson that was Rosson's own brother), and trainslates literally to 'Distant Young Man', and perhaps more loosely as 'Young Man From Afar'.

The reasons for Haenir's being ferried from his homeland and raised among his father-kin in The North reaches of Eriador have become lost to his family histories, although it is known that soon after Haenir/Ivoron arrived at the Walled City of Esteldin in The North Downs, Uilosson was slain in combat upon the border of Rohan in combat with Orcs (not long afterward discovered to have traveled into the land from The White Mountains). His  wife Heledhes died soon after of grief, as she was previously in good health before the departure of her husband, although there has been much speculation among the family as to the true circumstances surrounding her death.

He was raised in the typical fashion of the boys not yet come to manhood of The Dunedain (which he was, quite obviously through strong lineage, but he was never revealed as such until Rosson himself was upon his deathbed in far Tinnudir and admitted Haenir's true family line when the boy had reached only nineteen years of age). Carrying sword and spear and letting loose the shafts of arrows became not just habit but nature to the lad, taking to it more quickly than those in more peaceful lands. Fieldcraft he learned also, and the ways of stealth: how to keep to the shadows, take advantage of changes in the wind and stalking quietly. He was a keen hunter, taking many stags and wolves in his early years before taking quite an interest (and he'd be ashamed to admit, but a fair bit of joy) in traveling on expeditions as far as Sea to the West and The Ettenmoors to the North of Rivendell. He sat as a lad no older than 13 at the place where Adador, Grandfather of King Elesssar Alcontar and Chieftain of The Dunedain in his time, was slain by hill-trolls in TA2930.

At the age of fourteen, he had it in his mind to wander, as the men of his (previously unknown) history are wont to do. Far and wide he traveled, going so far as to make a trek to Imladris. Having been raised for a great deal of his life among the Elf-Friends (and indeed the Elves) that find refuge in the Southern North Downs at Gildor's refuge of Meluinen, the stay was not overly foreign, and he was greeted as friend and ally by the population at large, although he never had any direct dealings with Master Elrond Half-Elven or The Lords Elladan or Elrohir. His matters were resolved through mediation with other 'officials' dwelling there. His tongue being quick to The Silvan Speech, he quickly made fast friends among the Eldar of Imladris, and many of their youngers (in Elf-Terms, of course) were grieved to see him depart at the age of sixteen to return to his adopted homeland.

Upon returning to the wilds between Esteldin and Meluinen, where his father visited often for periods of respite, he came upon an odd scene: A small, rather diminuitive female of the Race of Men accosting a family: A man and woman, haggard with the road and emaciated for the most part. He stalked as closely as he dared, feeling his heart beating in his eardrums and not much else. He had always had some small measure of empathy, perhaps foresight in the remotest sense, and he felt that something very drastic was taking place. He watched the scene closely for only a handful of moments before the woman harassing the couple took notice of him; either through skill or luck, and began attempting to make an escape southward toward the Trestlespan and Bree-Land.

He pursued the woman, and now resides in Bree...

that they might continue to serve as marking points in the rich collective history that was and

re: Diorn Aglardin, Son of Huramlug

0

DIORN AGLARDIN (Son of Huramlug)

Race/Gender: Elf, Male

Class: Rune-Keeper

Father Name: di- S. pref. beneath, under ; orn S., N. n. (any large) tree
Chosen Name: aglar S., N. n. glory, brilliance, splendor, radiance, glitter ; dîn I S. n. silence

Diorn Aglardin was born at Eregion during the Stirring season (S. Echuir; Q. Coirë), just between Winter and Spring in the year 755 SA. Naturally, he is a smithcraft though concerning the implements of war and bloodshed he became mostly removed since the time of The War of the Elves and Sauron, when his home, the capital of Ost-in-Edhil, was besieged and laid waste, and Lord Celebrimbor was also taken.

In SA 1697, he was among those who reunited with Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel in what had become their new kingdom, Lórien. Diorn devoted himself fully to prayer and reflection over the next 1,000 years and much of that time he lived under a self-imposed silence. It was then also that he gained insight and understanding into the practice of ósanwe (Q. the "interchange of thought"). His academic studies excelled, but by SA 3430, Diorn at last broke his silence to take part in the War of the Last Alliance. Instead of returning to Lothlorien, however, he accepted an invitation to take up residence in Imladris and continues there to this day where much of his time has been spent in the libraries illustrating manuscripts. Of late he has started making preparations for a journey that will take him westward and into the Undying Lands.

Age: 2704 years (755SA to 3441SA = 2686 years + 18 years; TA3018 when the Fellowship sets off from Imladris)

Personality: Diorn is outwardly optimistic and encouraging though his innermost self is touched with an unreachable sadness that has been with him since he first left Ost-in-Edhil. It was at this time and during the siege that Diorn also lost his wife, though he can not bare to speak of it and may only ever offer hints of the matter.

Additional Information (not included as part of the in-game write-up):

Primary Roles: Advisory, especially in matters related to time and the elemental forces of nature.

Strengths: Discernment, Ability to Recognize and Encourage the Talents of Others, Patience and Long Suffering, Fortitude.

Weaknesses: Thirst for Knowledge.

Incidentals: Diorn favors attire with shades of red as it symbolizes the holly tree and, by extension, Eregion in all its former glory. Nothing is without purpose; Diorn tends to wear his hair parted in the center. This is symbolic of the necessity for balance in all things, and the patience or fortitude often required in meeting, having faith in, and realizing that state of being.

Diorn Aglardin

Timeline (Marking Points in M.E. History) as related to the Background of Diorn Aglardin:

TA 3021 (September 29) – At age 6,520 years, Elrond left Middle-earth to go over the sea with the other Ring-bearers, never to return.

SA 1697 (- 755 SA) = 942 yrs of age at this time
SA 1697 – Diorn Aglardin among those who reunite with Lord Celeborn and Lady Galadriel in what had become their new kingdom, Lórien of the Blossom. Diorn begins a long and transformative period of self-imposed silence at this time (see: 3430 SA).
SA 1697 - The War of the Elves and Sauron (SA 1693 – SA 1701 (11)); Eregion destroyed. Elrond found Rivendell. (2) Leading up to this, when Annatar was revealed to be the Dark Lord Sauron, Celebrimbor and his people tried to stop the Rings from entering Sauron's possession but could only rescue the Three: Vilya, Narya, and Nenya. (5) Celebrimbor died from his torment also, after his capture in the sack of Eregion. (7)

SA 1350 (- 755 SA) = 595 yrs of age at this time
SA 1350 – (by this time) Galadriel and Celeborn crossed the Misty Mountains to Lothlórien, their new kingdom. Also, from 1350SA, the Gwaith-i-Mírdain ('People of the Jewel-smiths' or Elven-smiths, were a group of Noldor living in Eregion in the Second Age(8)) under Celebrimbor, the last of Fëanor's House left in Middle-earth, ruled Eregion. Annatar, the Giver of Gifts, befriended Celebrimbor and aiding him in the making of the Nine and the Seven of the Rings of Power. Celebrimbor made the three in secret and these were never touched by Annatar's hands.

SA 1200 (- 755 SA) = 445 yrs of age at this time
SA 1200 – By S.A. 1200 Galadriel had made contact with an existing Nandorin realm, Lindórinand, Vale of the Land of the Singers as it was known in the First Age (6), in the area that would later be known as Lothlórien, and planted there the golden mallorn trees which Gil-galad had received as a gift from Tar-Aldarion, the seventh High King of Numenor. (3)(6)

SA 0755 – Diorn Aglardin born in Ost-in-Edhil , the capital of Eregion.

SA 0750 - The Noldor (accounted as the greatest of the Elves in lore and smithcraft (9)) founded the realm of Eregion and began the construction of Ost-in-Edhil, its capital, (2) ruled there by Galadriel and Celebor. (5) Note: Both Eregion and Hollin refer to the great holly trees of the region. (5)

SA 0032 - The Edain and a few Drúedain reach Númenor and Elros is crowned first King of Númenor. (2)

FA 0590 - Morgoth is cast into the Void. (2)

FA 545 - FA 587 - The War of Wrath, or the Great Battle (The war of Elves, Men, Dwarves and Valar against Morgoth at the end of the First Age. It marked the end of his rule in Middle-earth, was the largest battle of the first age and possibly the largest battle ever to have taken place in Middle-earth. It decided the fate of the Silmarils, and resulted in the expulsion of Morgoth from Arda and the destruction of most of northern Middle-Earth. (14)

(When Melkor killed Finwë and stole the Silmarils (the “Jewels of Fëanor” (10), Fëanor renamed Melkor: Morgoth ("Black Enemy"), and persuaded the Ñoldor to pursue him to Middle-earth and wage war against him. (9))When Fëanor rode too far from his bodyguard during the Battle under Stars (year 1 of the First Age) he was slain by Balrogs. (9)Men awaken in Hildórien at this time also. (2)

The Five Silences Preceding the Revealing of Melkor’s Malice

by Diorn Aglardin

Hesitation, discontent, harbored feelings of ill will, allowing another’s own folly to mirror back at them, a grievous heart, patience, faith. How many things does stillness bring forth and silence communicate?

Calling for open rebellion against the Valar, Feanor had unwittingly become an instrument of Melkor’s lies and whispers which until that time had only taken root. It is said that five times was there marked silence that did take place around the drawing of Feanor’s sword upon Fingolfin in the chamber of their father Finwe. Feanor supposed his half-brother was wanting to usurp him in place, but rather Fingolfin was only  attempting to speak sense to his father. That Finwe chose not to respond to his son’s plea or stay the hand of Feanor was the first silence. And Fingolfin said no words in his own defense to meet his brother’s vehement rebuke. Thus a second time was there silence.  Though Feanor pursued Fingolfin, putting a blade to Finglofin’s chest, again Fingolfin spoke no words in his own defense. That was the third, but a fourth time was there silence that did take place around the drawing of Feanor’s sword upon Fingolfin in the chamber of their father Finwe. Even Manwe, chief of the Valar and ruler of all Arda said nothing when initially learning of Feanor’s folly. Though deeply troubled, or perhaps as a result of his being grieved, he watched initially. Alas the Valar became angry and Feanor was finally brought before them at the gates of Valmar, the purpose being to answer for his actions by word and deed. And there, after the doings of Melkor were revealed, Fingolfin released his brother into the banishment set forth by Mandos the Judge. He released him. Feanor left with no utterance or word, thus marking the fifth silence.

Stone Elbereth and the Star that Fades

by Diorn Aglardin

There is an object safeguarded in the House of Lord Elrond Half-Elven that is unlike any other relics kept in the valley. Standing 7 feet in height, the object is positioned in a dark and quiet corner on the second floor in the Hall of Fire. It is comprised of a white and matte finished stone that is native of Eregion, the Land of Holly from which I also come. It was the material itself which first captivated my attention when I was newly arrived in Imladris. Not even the red flames from the nearby hearths have ever been reflected in the object’s surface, and neither has the warmth of the hall ever affected the stone as it is always quite cool to the touch. For reasons still unclear to me, I have likened these attributes to be symbolic of strength.

The image itself has also fascinated me over the years in that the carved likeness is of Lady Gilthoniel, the Starkindler. The object is heavily weathered, making the Lady’s face appear especially sad and tired. Her arms are both extended upwards and outwards. Her hands are pointed inwards and the fingers extended, each pressed tightly against the other. Three of the fingers on the right hand have been broken off. Though not of stone make, she holds a thin silver thread. Suspended from the thread is a jeweled star. The star itself simultaneously absorbs and redirects all light around it, while swinging back and forth as though recounting all the ages past.

Many a long hours have I stood before this image and silently contemplated the propulsion of the star pendulum, only to give myself over to all absence of thought. Whenever I have allowed myself time here, I always returned to my duties feeling more centered, with a heightened sense of awareness, and a deeply abiding stillness. Over the past few years, however, the star’s pace has slowed quite noticeably and its swing from side to side has started to lose its momentum. As friends now leave for the journey west, so too does the light from this jeweled star fade and this darkened corner become ever more black. My visits no longer afford me with the same sense of calm and respite as before. And yet the more ill at ease I become, the more I feel the need to visit and look upon this particular likeness of Elbereth.

Stone Collecting, by Diorn Aglardin

When I first began hearing the call to set out west and leave Middle-earth behind me, I made it my practice to gather stones of varying sizes and weights from all the far reaches of Eriador. There is much history in these objects and each is imbued with its own unique energies. Insomuch that the physical world is not ours to push around and shape at will, my only reservation at first was in any unseen and yet discovered repercussions that might result in removing these objects from their natural environments. Nevertheless, I have always believed that in time these stones will become important artifacts from whence they came. I respect each of them, not as being dumb and inanimate things but rather as materials imbued with a life-force whose language is discernable at a much slower rate.

I have by now spent sufficient time with many of these materials, listening to what tales they may tell and ascertaining the various natures of their collective make-up. As one who is engaged in this slow and patient conversation, of late I have allowed myself the liberty of also associating appropriate markings to their surfaces. On occasion I have expedited this process and self-imposed an echoing thought or two from various memories or associations I might have with the time and place from whence the stones were taken. This in and of itself is a very time-consuming process. And as time has been felt more pressing, so too have I since altogether ceased from the art and practice of illustrating manuscripts in the libraries of Lord Elrond. Many of the paints I used previously are suitable for enhancing the stone’s markings, and I have started experimenting with various compounds in this way also. This has demanded that I leave the relatively safe comforts of Imladris more and more. As a result, I have erred on the side of caution and now even carry an elvish blade again on my person.

I know not where this course will take me. Admittedly, the more time and attention I allow for these studies, the less I feel inclined to leave Middle-earth just yet. Time will tell and I must trust in that. And time is precisely the matter I am now delving into at an accelerated rate.

re: Diorn's Response to the Council of Amor

Diorn's Response to the Council of Amor:

~ Master Elrond; Lord of Imladris, Lord Erestor; Chief Counsellor, and Lord Amor; Guardian of the Two Trees and Since Arrived from Valinor,

It is with the interchange of thought first received from Lord Amor, announcing he and the Lady Artuiliel's arrival from Valinor, that my letter begins and I now seek to reestablish contact.

Going on then, it was after communicating this mind to mind transmission from Amor, to Aemthalion and Mormerileth, that I was entrusted by Aemthalion in leading the expedition to safely meet and deliver Amor to Imladris from Celondim. And although I accepted the charge, this responsibility left me feeling utterly conflicted. The simple thought of traveling so far and so long to arrive at last to the Sea, only to turn back, was incredibly taxing to me. In addition, the journey meant leaving the libraries of Rivendell, to which I had grown so accustomed during my sojourn in the Hidden Valley and after participating in The War of The Last Alliance.

Trusting in the vision first received, nonetheless, there was much anticipation and preparation had by the party which then formed to make the journey to Celondim. And at that time, I delved deeper into my studies, forcibly so. But as the journey commenced, I am told that I began to visibly show signs of breakdown.

The use of various minerals and plant matters was a practice with which I had long been familiar in my studies and used for the creation of various dyes, inks, and paints, to pen records and manuscripts. As for the collection of stones from throughout Eriador, they were safeguarded as records, meant to at last be taken back with me to the Undying Lands. This self-appointed duty excelled to a feverish pitch, however, when it neared time for our departure to Celondim. My affinity for the stones, developed from one in which I initially sought to understand their inherent worth and the histories they contained, to actually distilling their influence. The necessity for the adornment of these relics grew stronger, and just when I was making considerable progress did this tale take a turn.

As you know, by the time we finally arrived and did meet Amor and Artuiliel, I had come under the influence and spell of a fallen Maia. His name I will not even now set down on page. But while, his power being great and just stepping off the Grey Ship, with the flash of eagle's wings Amor did dispatch this one, releasing me of my servitude. The cost I have payed, unfortunately, and the burden which I now bare, is my remorse in not properly accompanying the party back to Imladris. As you know, I have since returned to the Golden Wood for rest, respite, healing. And while I was not able to take part in the Council there assembled in the Great Hall of the Last Homely House, I do now reach out to reestablish contact, and play what part I may before at last leaving for the distant shores.

~ Diorn Aglardin, Son of Hurumlug
